Prologue:
The child created towards the swaying oak ladder. The sky scraper trees lurked in the shadows. They had seen this before!
The moon sparkled as it hung in the air like a gem for all to see. I advanced. Slowly. Pain seared across my chest, spending at rapid speed. I woke to my own scream.
It had just been a dream.
I was breathing hard and my t-shirt was stuck to my back. I checked the time. It was two am. I yawned. “I’m exhausted,” I thought out loud. Eventually my eyes grew heavy and I dozed off into a dreamless sleep.
My alarm tore through the house. Even my cat Tabby heard the high pitched beeps. “MYOW!” What's that irritating noise she thought.
“JONATHAN! TURN OFF THAT ALARM!!”
“Sure Mum,”I groaned sleepily.
Bang, my feet hit the stairs as if I was crushing cockroaches. The chair buckled under my weight as I sat down. “Mum. We need better seats,” I said with a mouth full of Nutri-grain. My guess was that she wasn’t listening. Boy, was I right. “What’s the time?,” I wondered as I cheeked the clock and gasped “Time for school? All ready?”
The big yellow bus was parked outside. The gentle hum of the engine soothed the shock I just had. I ran to the bus as quickly as I could. I wasn’t that fast because I tripped on a stone and landed face first. So this is what it like to have spots dancing in your eyes I thought. All of a sudden the bus turned red and it roared down the road. “no no wait up“ I was screaming at the top of my lungs. The imagines faded I was still lying in front of the bus and all the kids were laughing at me. “I wasn’t going anywhere Jony,” said the bus driver.
“Mm year okay”
Oh no I must've said all those things out loud. I was mortified. From there it just went down hill. All kids mocked me and my seats were disgusting. They had chewing gum under them and lolly wrappers between the cushions.
I was ever so grateful when we reached the school grounds freedom at last. I kept my head down and ran in shame and misery. I didn’t hear most of the snickering, laughter or kids mocking me.
I was nearly to my classroom when I heard someone shout. It was Elvis the terrifying bully. I was ever so quiet. Almost silent. “Ya running from a ghost? Or the boogie man?,” Elvis teased. Pain flared up inside me I was breathing hard now.
“NETHER,” I shouted as my shoulder made contact with his stomach. My fists rained down on Elvis but he barely noticed. My best friend Kevin heard all the racket and came running over.
“What are you doing Jonathan?” He asked after he managed to tear me off Elvis.
“I don't know what came over me,” I managed to say after a lot of silence.
“Well you're gonna be in so much trouble”
Everybody sighed as the home bell echoed through the classroom. Loud creaks of chairs moving from under the desks rang out through the classroom. I was still getting teased about the earlier avent. I hadn't had any weird dreams since this morning so I hope I don't get another one now. I walked home miserably. After what felt like a year I finally reached my house’s doorstep. Once I reached my bedroom I flopped down on my bed.
My mum opened the door just as I looked up. “Go away” I moaned.
“Honey what's wrong,” my mum said in what was meant to be a sweet soothing voice. There was Silence for a hole of ten seconds. “Well I suppose you need some time alone,” my mum said as she left my room. Eventually I managed to dozes off.
The world spun at 10,000 mph and I appeared in a different world. It was in the same place as dream as last time. The only thing was I was closer, there wasn't any pain, and there was a ladder with about a million rungs. I climbed up the ladder as if I did it all the time. I'm actually afraid of highs so I never climb up ladders. I was so curious when I got to the top be us I saw a big alien ship. A magnetic ray pulled me towards the alien spacecraft. “Nooooooooo!”
My petrified scream bounced off the walls waking me from my sleep. I was so scared I wanted to investigate. I grabbed a flashlight and hopped out the window. The wind whipped across my face. I was sprinting at top speed. Golden grass glittered in the moonlight as I ran by. Just like in the dream the oak ladder stood in front of me. One after another my shaking feet reached up the ladder.
The ship was amazing although it had a spooky hint around it. I creeped along the steel passageway. CLANG!,my foot smashed against a pipe. “Hey who’s there?,” went an alien voice
“Oh no” he’s seen me. I ran for my life no literally I ran for my life.
“Halt. well if you don’t want to be blasted to ashes” said an alien with a laser gun. The alien had a nametag that said Flamasiak (pronounced flam-as-e-ak). I know what a strange name. I wonder how he got it? Right back to the story. He dragged me into a cell with long wires sprouting from the walls. “Let me out of here.” I cried while banging on the steel door. I turned my head in sorrow. I had a bed but that was all. Click the door burst open and someone put me to sleep.
When I woke l was strapped down by old let her straps. I turned my head. “Oh no this can't be good” Heaps of bodies were hanging from glowing blue tubes. It looked as if they were trying to turn the bodies into aliens. Is that Fred? Is that Billy? Those are all my friends and enemies. In fact they’re all the people I know. If I don't get free who knows what could happen to them.
The End
