Help refugees!!!

22th September 2016

Dear Mr Key,

Hello. Ollie and I are 10 years old and we go to Springston School in Christchurch. We think that we should take more refugees in New Zealand. We should take at least one every three days. This would help  refugees get away from their past and make a new start in New Zealand. This would also help other countries that take a lot of refugees.

Once the refugees get to New Zealand they need shelter even if it’s just a tent. If it’s a house it doesn’t have to be anything too posh. If a refugee family has with children (or child) over five, someone needs to get them a school where they can learn and feel safe.

We are lucky to live in New Zealand  because we have most our needs. New Zealand is a small country but that does not mean we can't invite more refugees. Olle.W and I want to take action by donating to help the refugees but you are the only one who can make a major change.

Yours Sincerely,

 Ollie.W and Alex.S

The glowing ball of terror

The night was calm and the air was cold. There was only two things out of place. The air had an electrical twist to it and there was some mysterious chanting going on.

Jake slowly reached for his bed-side lamp. You see he didn't want to wake his grumpy father who was nested inside his bed and was snoring.  He listened in silence but all he could hear was a faint cold voices chanting. This chanting isn't in English thought Jake. He got really curious and slipped out the window.

Jake’s legs quivered as he hid from the blinding headlights in the alleyway. Jake still had ground shock from jumping from the bedroom window. Jake peeped around the corner. A man dressed in a blue cloak stood by a van. He wasn't just a man. He looked like a wizard. In fact if the man was a wizard he was a wizard holding a blue glowing orb.  He really didn't want to wake his father about this. But it was the only choice.

Jake burst through the door. Panting.  Jake groaned as he saw the long flight of stairs that led to his father’s room. Jake tiptoed up the stairs not in much of a hurry now.

Finally he reached the top of the stairs. He swung open the door. His father wasn't there. “Where is he?,” Jake muttered. Of course he must have gotten restless and got up to watch T.V.

Jake found his Dad sitting in the arm chair like a bundle of rags. “Dad. I need to tell you something,” he groaned sleepily and sat up so I could see his baggy eyes.
“Go ahead, but this better not be another one of those crackpot story's,” he grumped. So I told him the whole story (except the part about jumping out the window.) Jake‘s Dad told him off for telling a silly story and continued watching T.V.

The following night Jake jumped out the window again this time landing softly and swiftly. Out of the corner of his eye he spied a reflection of the moon. He narrowed his eyes. He could see the outline of a van. The same van parked outside yesterday. He reached down so he could reach the door. Surprisingly the door clicked open. Jake hopped inside to investigate.

The mysterious wizard in the blue coat from yesterday strolled down the footpath towards the van. Jake was now slouched down in the boot looking for somewhere to hide. Jake looked down and saw a blanket. It smelt of sour milk but at least it might save his neck.

The mysterious wizard and Jake pulled into an old rusty warehouse. The wizard took the orb and carried it with outstanding care as he walked off into the depths of the warehouse.

When Jake thought the wizard was out of earshot he got up. Jake was very quiet until he forgot how low the roof was and banged his head. The wizard took a sharp turn and came back towards the van. Jake made a run for it and bound out of the boot. Jake didn't make it far. The wizard quickly muttered a few strange words and Jake fell down unconscious.

When Jake woke he was shackled and tied to a pole facing the wizard. After scanning the area Jake brought himself  to say, “what am I doing here and what are you going to do to me?”
“Well that’s easy to answer,” replied the wizard.
“So what's the answer?” Jake asked.
“Well firstly I'll tap into your brain and see what you have seen and know. Then I'll  use the globe on you and you will wish you never saw what you saw.”
“Sir what exactly does the globe do?” Jake asked the wizard curiously.
“It terrorises people,” the wizard cackled mischievously.

Midnight struck and the wizard came over with the globe and rested it on a stool. By this time Jake had untied the knots tying him to the pole and was waiting for the right moment to escape. All of a sudden a loud bang came from one of the pipes. This was Jake’s chance. Jake shoved off the rope holding him and ran for the door. “Seize him!” The wizard shouted frantically. Jake got confused he hadn't saw anybody else in the warehouse.
“WOW,” Jake cried as he got tackled by a guard.
“What should I do with you?” said the guard.
“You're going give him here,” smirked the wizard.
The End!!!
